Who is Samantha?
Samantha/Sam Bozin (she/they) grew up in the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado. Sam made her acting debut at the age of 5 as Mrs. Rabbit in her kindergarten production of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. After her first taste at public performance, Sam continued to pursue the performing arts both as an actor and singer. In high school Sam was a member of the Chamber and Jazz Choirs and was selected to perform in Colorado All State Choir and Colorado All-State Jazz Choir as a part of the Colorado Musical Educators Association Conference. Sam also competed at the Colorado/Wyoming NATS conference, earning third place her first year and first place her second year, both in musical theatre. One of Sam's favorite music performance experiences was studying vocal jazz under Grammy-nominated arranger, Jeremy Fox, at SMV Vocal Jazz Camp.
Sam also performed in plays and musicals throughout the early years of her education, being cast in Mary Poppins, Seussical, Check Please, Sweeney Todd, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lost in Yonkers and The Secret Garden, the latter two giving her the opportunity to develop a love of learning dialects as the Yorkshire chambermaid Martha and the German Grandma Kurnitz. Sam was active in her school's Thespian troupe, acting as head of publicity for the board her junior year and president her senior year. Sam competed at the state Thespian convention during her high school career, and having placed in the top tier in her state for musical theatre, she got to go to the International Thespian Convention as an individual event competitor in 2014 and 2016.
Sam was honored to be awarded the Performing Arts Patrons Scholarship from her high school, which helped allow her to move to New York City in 2016 to train as an actor at the conservatory program at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA), graduating in April of 2018. Her 2018 Academy credits include the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet (directed by Lester Shane), Natasha in Chekhov's The Proposal (directed by Zenon Kruszelnicki) and Laura in Significant Other (directed by LA Williams). In addition to her pursuits in the world of performance, Sam enjoys traveling abroad and learning new languages. She's an avid knitter, a freelance photographer, and enjoys spending time volunteering as medical staff at a Colorado summer camp for kids living with type 1 diabetes.
Recently, Sam has taken part in staged readings of new plays with Stripped Scripts, reading for Kira in Michelle Kuchuk's This is Why, as well as reading for Shelly in Ilene Fischer's Room Service. Sam has also done work on several short films, such as Staying Inside (dir. Shana Holmes), The Parasite (dir. Toula Sweeney; Subconscious Pictures), and Patterns (dir. Ian Wagner; Big Rock Productions), as well as the new YouTube show, The Stay at Home Game- 10 Questions (dir. Dave Shaw; Diversity Plus Entertainment).
While working on her own acting career, Sam has also worked as a director and writer, and has founded her own film production company, Fentress Films. So far, Sam has directed two shorts, a music video, a night of readings of new works written by women, and she has hosted her own international film festival. Her most recent films, Life in a Vial and Dangerous Discourse, have been selected to over twenty film festivals (7 finalists, 3 nominations, and 1 win). She also recently wrote a short screenplay, The Alpha Complex, which was nominated for the 'Best Short Script' award at the Hollywood Art and Movie Awards in Hollywood, CA.
Sam hopes to continue growing as an actor, singer, writer, and director!
